The 2022 Spring Housing Market in Michigan is looking a lot like the 2021 and 2020 Spring Housing Markets, with one exception…rising interest rates. It will be interesting to see if inflation and rising interest rates deter potential homebuyers in this market. My thought is that it won’t, and that buyers are just as desperate (if not more desperate) to buy than ever before. I think that the 2022 Spring Housing Market will have an abundance of buyers due to insanely high rental rates in Michigan as well the trend of out-of-state, work-from-home individuals taking the opportunity to move to Michigan to take advantage of its still relative affordability and quality of life. I also think that there should be more housing inventory than past Springs due to the fact that many potential sellers know that this is the prime opportunity to cash-out while at the peak of home values.
